Dancing Milk is Awesome.

We had a "Dancing Milk" lab on Thursday, where we basically tried to make milk dance. Using food coloring, dish soap, and different types of liquids for the pan, we tested the different reactions of the food coloring when dish soap was dropped into different liquids. 

By testing the different reactions in different liquids, we could determine whether or not the milk was a factor in the "dancing milk." We first tested soy milk, and the reaction was exactly the same as the one in the video. We then tested water, but it turned out to have no reaction at all-- the food coloring stayed exactly how it was, no matter how many drops of dish soap we put. We also tested vinegar, since we had time, and it reacted like water did--no reaction.

The milk and the food coloring both interacted in that way because the dish soap broke the bonds between the fats and protein, and the food coloring made the reaction visible.
